Tilewake · A Mahjong Solitaire

A quiet moment. A fresh board.
One pair at a time.

Tilewake is a Mahjong Solitaire game about finding matching pairs and clearing the board, one thoughtful move at a time.

Only free tiles can be matched, so a little observation and planning can make all the difference. Take your time, discover the possibilities, and enjoy the satisfaction of finding the next pair.

Ready for your next board?

Try the Tilewake demo.

Download, extract and play. No installation and no Steam account required. Choose an alias on your first launch and join the online leaderboards.

An internet connection is required to play the demo. Ranked play is always enabled; there is no offline mode or local highscore list.

Getting started

From download to your first pair.

  1. Extract the archive.

Unpack the download into a folder of your choice. There is no installer and no installation required.

  2. Launch Tilewake.

Open the extracted folder and run Tilewake.exe on Windows or Tilewake.x86_64 on Linux. The first launch may take a little longer while shaders are compiled.

  3. Choose your alias.

Pick a unique alias after the title animation. No email address, real name, Steam account or separate registration is needed. The demo remembers your identity for future launches.

Stay connected. If the demo cannot reach the online service, it displays Retry and Quit. An interrupted game is held until the connection is restored. The demo does not switch to an offline mode.
How do I start the Linux demo?

Extract the tar.gz archive, then open the Tilewake-Demo-Linux folder. Launch Tilewake.x86_64 from your file manager, or run ./Tilewake.x86_64 in a terminal inside that folder. The archive includes the executable permission. If your extraction tool does not preserve it, run chmod +x Tilewake.x86_64 first.

What can I use as my alias?

Use 3–24 characters: A–Z, a–z, numbers, spaces, an underscore (_) or a hyphen (-). Start with a letter or number. Your alias must be unique and is visible on the online leaderboards, so please avoid using personal information.

Do I need Steam or an extra account?

No. This demo uses its own online service. A random identity credential is stored on your device so it can recognise your alias on later launches. Steam sign-in and the Steam friends filter are not part of the demo.

How long will the demo be available?

The demo currently has no scheduled end date. Follow development and future announcements on our Discord.

A personal passion

A game I keep
coming back to.

What I love most about Mahjong Solitaire is its endless replayability and the personal challenge of clearing the board a little faster each time. That love of the game goes back to my childhood, when I played the wonderful Amiga version of Shanghai over and over again.

My goal is to create the ultimate Mahjong Solitaire experience, with a strong focus on competitive play and beautiful presentation. Mahjong Solitaire is a single-player game, but my vision for Tilewake includes persistent leaderboards, daily challenges, and a seasonal league, giving players the chance to compete with fellow Mahjong enthusiasts around the world.
